As of April 24th 2013 at 11:32 a.m... I am officially done with my onslaught of finals. I survived. Barely. Between 11 p.m. bedtimes and 3 a.m. study sessions, I am wiped out. It goes without saying that I am ready to usher in an era of peace and relaxation. Because of the craziness that was April, I had to let the blog take a back seat while I focused on school and all the extracurriculars that came along with that. Warning. Here comes the marathon post.
April 4th was Wolverine Achievement Awards, where Student Government recognizes exceptional students, teachers, departments and advisors {all nominated by students}. Basically... free lunch in exchange for numb hands due to the ridiculous amount of clapping. Yay Wolverines.

Me and Clara (my VP) during one of the more boring segments.
So grateful for friends to keep me entertained.
Free lunch... can't complain :)
Student Government members were recognized as well. Yay me.
April 5th was a big day for me. The culmination of my year of event planning, Mr. UVU. The "crowning moment" if you will (just laugh at my pathetic attempt at a joke). It was an extremely busy day, full of hours of stage set-up and... an interview with the Office of Student Involvement. I finished the day with a successful event and a full-tuition scholarship! Not a bad day :)
Modeling the coveted crown and sash.
The guys opening number. So classy.
Tyler brings back "Single Ladies" for his farewell as Mr. UVU 2012
Mr. UVU 2013, PJ Guttierez :)
On April 6th, Clark and I had the opportunity to attend the baptism of Elsa Alvarado, my good friend and fellow UVUSA member. She grew up Catholic and started investigating the church a year ago. We are SO proud of her decision to join the church. She chose to get baptized in the Provo River, and it was SUCH a cool experience.
On April 11th, I attended the UVU Club's Closing Banquet with some of my closest friends! I'll be president of the Community Health club and the Special Olympics club/team next year and I cannot wait! It was also my last Student Council meeting... bitter sweet.
So long... farewell...
So many perks to being involved...
The Intramurals Crew :)

Ashley- 2013-2014 PRSSA President (PR Club)
and ME!
April 12th was UVU's first Relay for Life with the American Cancer Society. The event overall was... to put it nicely, a bit disappointing. They could have done a lot of things better. A guy (who I THOUGHT was a student...) came and talked to me and asked how the event could be improved. I basically listed off things for 5 minutes of items they should have done differently... After taking the event apart piece by piece, he asked me if I knew who he was. Panic set in. That's a line you NEVER EVER want to hear. Meet David. Director of the Relay for Life events across the entire flipping state... AWESOME. I had just finished tearing the event apart. What he said next I never expected. He offered me an INTERNSHIP. He said he loved my attitude and my drive, my involvement at UVU and my knowledge when it came to planning events. The kicker? I had just accepted an]other internship an hour earlier (with one of my professors) in a different branch of the American Cancer Society, or else I would have taken him up on it in a heart beat! Two internship offers in one night... not too shabby!
Relay for Life luminaries.
On April 13th, we went to the funeral of Clark's step-grandmother, Clarine. While I had only seen her two or three times, she was a lovely lady and she will be missed. The whole funeral was light-hearted, a beautiful celebration of her life. Lots of smiles all around. But no one was as happy as little miss Emmeline with her yellow balloon. That was pure joy.
April 16th was the UVUSA transition banquet. It's so crazy that a year ago, I was just stepping into office. Time has flown. I'm grateful for the opportunities I've had through Student Government, and I'm excited for the new Student Council. I know they will do a great job!
Our last branch meeting. Student Activities for life.
Student Activities 2012-2013 with the bear from NACA.
Oldies and Newbies.
My committee member Sandra, who got Social Chair for next year! So proud of this girl!
April 17th was the CHUVU closing social. It was a great year, and I'm excited to take over for next year :)
The Community Health Crew, presidency and advisers. Good eggs, all of them.
April 18th was our closing party for UVUSA, and we all got awards. Most of them were jokes, poking fun at all of the hilarious situations from the year. However... mine was serious, because I'm a serious person haha. I got the "Momma Hayley" award because I'm dependable and on top of things, I am always helping everyone with their events and I was the go-to council member for health advice... and I babysat Steen all year long. He makes bad decisions sometimes. And I kept people from breaking University policies and procedures... Yeah, it's appropriate.
"Momma Hayley" award
And then there's was finals week... And just like any other finals week, I found ways to procrastinate...
I had to do this. Really. Epidemiology can wait.
Biostatistics got put on the back burner, Ticket to Ride couldn't wait!
It was this or Ticket to Ride... I believe I made the logical decision.
Human diseases... or designing and creating a new wreath... well that's a no-brainer.
I could have studied for Consumer Health... OR (hear me out)... we could make an AWESOME bbq chicken dinner on our grill and watch a movie. Deal.
Finals came and went, and although it looks like I didn't study... trust me, I did. All those activities kept me sane. I even got an A on a final where the teacher didn't post the study guide until the NIGHT BEFORE. When I went in to take the test, none of the questions were from the study guide. Awesome. I'm not going to get my hopes up yet, but I am still within reach of another 4.0... It's going to be CLOSE. Plus I took this guys to all my finals for good luck, so what could go wrong?
I'm not kidding. He went to every single one.
Started out as a joke and I just kept it going.
Clark and I survived. And what a better way to end finals week than with a tennis session.
First time and I loved it.
Time for summer. :)
