Post-Christmas tid-bits
Hi. Miss me?
This last week was busy, what with all the festivities...
But. I'm back.
Christmas was grand.
I got a new toy...
and Clark got a new toy...
and we got lots of other stuff! And (of course) I had my Christmas morning pomegranate. Tradition started in 5th grade and I'm determined to keep it going.
We also worked on this puzzle during the week we were in Idaho.
Still can't believe we finished it. It was SO HARD. We're champs. (mostly Callie, Dan and me. Clark and Julie get honorable mentions. Jalayne... Her disgust for puzzles kept her from participating in the craziness that was the Times Square puzzle.)
We saw Les Mis on Wednesday, and it was GREAT!
Anne Hathaway rocked it, much to my surprise. Except she's nuts for actually chopping off her hair. How she did that, I'll never know...
Clark's family = Les Mis experts.... which led to much analyzing during the hours following the movie. I didn't contribute much to the conversation, as that was my first time seeing anything resembling the musical Les Mis.
On Friday, we left Idaho to go see my family. Christmas was fun in Idaho, but I was dying to see the fam... Skyping just wasn't cutting it anymore. My parents got us this awesome wireless printer, and we've been playing with it all day. Clark enjoys printing from his Nexus tablet. It's pretty great, technology blows my mind. They also got us hotel reservations and tickets to Brian Regan in May down in Tuacahan! Super stoked!!!
My favorite gift this Christmas was from my dad. He gave me a very thoughtful gift that was thoroughly unexpected. For quite some time, my dad has been studying the scriptures by topic, chosen from the topical guide. Subjects such as charity, faith, industriousness, Joseph Smith and many more. He reads the scriptures under that topic, writes down notes about the scriptures and he's been doing this for as long as I can remember. I've always admired him for that. So, for Christmas, he gave me a binder that had a note written in the front cover. He talked about his love of the scriptures and all sorts of things too personal to mention, but needless to say I about cried (if you know me, getting me close to crying is unreal). In the binder were all his notes about the scriptures subjects he has studied over the years, and his promise to send me more once he had finished other topics. What a great present, to have my dad's insights into the scriptures. My dad is great, no doubt... One of the best gifts I have ever received, and I will cherish it forever.
After presents, mom and dad took Sierra, Clark and me to Rodizzio Grill. Sierra and I both got 4.0 GPA's last semester, so they rewarded our neurotic perfectionism :) We'll see if I can pull it off again this semester. I've got 18 credits, 2 jobs and Student Government. It's a real possibility that death may occur.
Now, Clark and I are gearing up for our trip to San Francisco! A friend of ours is getting married in the Oakland Temple, and because of my love (borderline obsession) with San Francisco, it got turned into a little vacation! Half a billion pictures to follow.......
